 Welcome to TNT Permits Guidelines for
Pilot Cars for all 50 States!


                                                    OVERSIZE PROVISIONS
                                                      Travel Restrictions
Loads allowed 24 hour per day travel with the following requirements: (not exceeding) 10’ wide: with marker lights indicating extreme width. Amber lights at the front and center of the load and red lights at the rear.

10’ front and rear overhang: Excess of 3’ front overhang and 4’ rear overhang requires lights and flags.
14’ height: no requirements.
105’ length: no requirements.
Loads exceeding 10’ wide, 105’ length, and 14’ height have the following restrictions:
The Motor Carrier Division encourages the movement of oversize loads at night under the following conditions:
Loads may not exceed 12' wide on secondary highways, 14' wide on interstates, and 14' high on all roadways.
Loads exceeding 10' wide, 105' overall length, or 10' front and rear overhang are required to have one certified pilot/escort on interstate highways and two on all secondary highways.
Loads exceeding 92' overall length are required to have proper lighting every 25', with amber lights to the front and sides of the load marking extreme width, and red to the rear.

                                                  
Six Major Holidays:    
New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
                                                                                                                                                       

                                                            Curfew:       
Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the following counties:
All highways south of Perry Interchange, I-15, Exit 357;
All highways in Weber, Davis, and Salt Lake counties;
All highways north of Ironton Interchange, SR 75, I-15, Exit 261; SR 68, MP 16 in Utah County.
Exceeding 20’ front or rear overhangs: Flashing amber light and pilot/escort required.

Red flags and Oversize load signs. (Exception: Oversize sign not required on overhang only).
